Jaisalmer Trip (The Golden City)

 Jaisalmer Trip (Golden City)

 (23-27 December 2025)

Jaisalmer, A Golden Jewel of Rajasthan. For years, Jaisalmer had been attracting me, and now I finally got the chance to admire the Golden City." On 22nd of December we caught out train HWH JU EXPRESS (12307) from Agra Fort to Jodhpur at 7.30 pm. Train was at right time and it brought us to Jodhpur 30 minutes before of schedule time means we were at Jodhpur station at 4.50 am. It was a comfortable journey. Jodhpur was not so cool , weather was very pleasant there. We stayed there for one night and decided to go to Jaisalmer early in morning of 24th December by SBIB JSM SUP EXP (20492) at 6.20 am. On 24th December we reached there at 12.00 pm and booked a room at Welcome Heritage Kalyan Bhawan near Gandhi Chawk (main market).

The Hotel was located in the heart of jaisalmer city, very convenient for exploring different places like Fort, local market, Mandir Palace , Moti Mahal, Lake etc.  Many good restaurants were there near the property to enjoy the food, coffee and tea. After having the lunch we went to the Jaisalmer Fort. At first glance, the fort didn't seem very grand or unique; it appeared quite common and ordinary. To know about the fort's history, we hired a local guide who charged us ₹300. He showed us all the important parts of the fort and shared its fascinating history. Story about the kings, maharajas and Deewans of the jaisalmer was quite exciting and interesting. Reaching the top of the fort was an extraordinary experience, offering a stunning view of the entire Jaisalmer, which truly appeared as the Golden City. After that we visited Nachana Haveli which was a old heritage Haveli cum Hotel. After returning back we enjoyed Pyaj Kachori and Dinner.

As the next day was 25th December Christmas day we wanted to celebrate it by enjoying cultural programme at sand dunes camping so we booked a cab in rs. 3000 and reached Sam Village. We had already booked a cottage in Shiv Tara camps along with camel ride and Jeep safari in rs. 7500 for one night. In the evening first we started the camel ride to the desert and witnessed the marvelous Sunset in the desert. It was an awesome experience.

"Amid the golden sands of Jaisalmer, the sunset paints a masterpiece in the sky, reminding us that even in the vastness of the desert, beauty knows no bounds."

After enjoying a camel ride, we returned to the camp and spent the night enjoying a Rajasthani cultural program with snacks and dinner.

Next morning was started with a thrilling Jeep Safari in the Desert it was one of the best  memorable and worth experience of Jaisalmer. With many wonderful memories of the Sam Dunes desert, we returned to Jaisalmer once again and explored the remaining points. We visited Salim Singh Ki Haveli, which had an entry charge of ₹100 per person (I personally found this Haweli worthless to visit) There was nothing to see aside a ruins and the Mandir Palace, with a charge of ₹280 per person (It was also okay type, not even interesting) and lake. The lake was free to visit, but boating had a separate charge. Since we weren't particularly interested in boating, we enjoyed exploring the surroundings instead.

Overall Jaisalmer will remain in my heart only for its desert beauty and aesthetic and cultural silver jewellery which I bought from there. Its a one time trip only for 2 days max 3 days. If you are fond of historical places, forts and architecture you must go Jaisalmer.
